LetterBox (Freeware)

This free software is great for those people who have relatively wide screens. It places the mail preview panel to the right instead of below the mailbox listing. You see a lot more of the message as a preview. [Note: this may not work well for those people with small screens.]

Mail Attachment Iconizer (Shareware —$14.99)

This shareware fixes some annoying problems with Apple Mail:

• displaying all attachments in the message window without any regard for size & type of document, how the sender wanted it sent, or how you want to handle attachments

• shortening long file names
